The Sex Workers’ Art Show Tour is coming to Indiana University,
\nSunday, February 24th, 2008 at 7 pm at the Whittenberger Auditorium,
\nIndiana Memorial Union. This event is FREE and open to the public
\n(18+, please)!<\/p>\n
The show is an eye-popping evening of visual and performance art
\ncreated by people who work in the sex industry to dispel the myth that
\nthey are anything short of artists, innovators, and geniuses!<\/p>\n
The wildly successful cabaret-style show is hitting the road again,
\nbringing audiences a blend of spoken word, music, drag, burlesque, and
\nmultimedia performance art. Intelligent and hot, disturbing and
\nhilarious, the performances offer a wide range of perspectives on sex
\nwork, from celebration of prostitutes’ rights and sex-positivity to
\nviews from the darker sides of the industry.<\/p>\n
The show includes people from all areas of the sex industry:
\nstrippers, prostitutes, dommes, film stars, phone sex operators,
\ninternet models, etc. It smashes traditional stereotypes and moves
\nbeyond “positive” and “negative” into a fuller articulation of the
\ncomplicated ways sex workers experience their jobs and their lives.
