{"id":890,"date":"2006-12-26T14:43:44","date_gmt":"2006-12-26T19:43:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.terrorware.com\/geoff\/2006\/12\/26\/lemuriakind-of-like-spitting-your-living-rooms-all-over-me\/"},"modified":"2006-12-26T14:43:44","modified_gmt":"2006-12-26T19:43:44","slug":"lemuriakind-of-like-spitting-your-living-rooms-all-over-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.terrorware.com\/geoff\/2006\/12\/26\/lemuriakind-of-like-spitting-your-living-rooms-all-over-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Lemuria\/Kind of Like Spitting &#8211; Your Living Room&#8217;s All Over Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So I started reviewing CDs for the local community radio station, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wfhb.org\">WFHB<\/a>, after realizing that, being on tour so much, I couldn&#8217;t easily have a show.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a small thing, but hopefully it&#8217;s helpful.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to start posting some of the reviews of things that I find to be pretty enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Label:<\/strong> Art of the Underground<br \/>\n<strong>artist:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0Lemuria\/Kind of Like Spitting<br \/>\n<strong>title:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0Your Living Room\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s All Over Me<br \/>\n<strong>file under:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0Power Pop, Pop-Punk, Indie Rock<br \/>\n<strong>grade:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0B<br \/>\n<strong>Review: <\/strong><br \/>\nLemuria is a newer band that plays power-pop or pop-punk in a way that sounds like a less aggressive version of Discount, with catchy hooks, male\/female vocals, and personal lyrics that, at times, border on the melodramatic.\u00c2\u00a0 Kind of Like Spitting features members of Death Cab for Cutie and The Thermals.\u00c2\u00a0 The songs are less polished than the former but more musically ambling than the latter.\u00c2\u00a0 Their sound reminds me a bit of The Dismemberment Plan if they had made more lo-fi recordings with less dynamic songs but with more present lead guitar parts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>comments \/ tracks\u00c2\u00a0 of interest:<\/strong><br \/>\nTracks 1-7 are by Lemuria, 8-12 by Kind of Like Spitting<\/p>\n<p>3 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bugbear\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a driving, bitter track about severed relationships<br \/>\n7 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sophmore\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a poppy reproach that will remind the listener of their college days<br \/>\n10 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You I Seek\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Faster and more straightforward than the other KOLS tracks, it sounds as good as anything ever released by The Thermals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FCC:<\/strong> 1, 5, 6, 11<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/geoff.terrorware.com\/files\/01%20-%20Hours.mp3\">Link to sample track <em>Hours<\/em> by Lemuria<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/geoff.terrorware.com\/files\/10%20-%20You%20I%20Seek.mp3\">Link to sample track <em>You I Seek<\/em> by KOLS<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I started reviewing CDs for the local community radio station, WFHB, after realizing that, being on tour so much, I couldn&#8217;t easily have a show.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a small thing, but hopefully it&#8217;s helpful.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to start posting some of the reviews of things that I find to be pretty enjoyable.
